I’ve been thinking about some random stuff lately, and one thing on my mind probably since my first trip out to Burning Man is the concept of Temporary Autonomous Zones (TAZ) which is a term I only recently came across, but the concept is familiar and enticing. I found out about TAZ (the term) from this guy from the Madagascar Institute (how appropriate) who was out at Burning Man last year. His crew built an amazing octopus way out on the playa which was one of my favorite installations this year.
Pain…
So the pain is finally subsiding for one of my good friends. You can almost see it escaping through the fingers and into the thrashed coaster, while the liquid therapy known as Guinness provides a watchful and approving eye…
November…
Wow, it’s already November. Since I don’t post much, I should probably at least link to the photo that I am shooting each day, which in this instance wasn’t the most intriguing, so I won’t embed it, but if you want, check it and my series out here.
Motivation?
Shoot, the next three weekends are going to be busy with bodybuilding and fitness shows. I shot some this weekend, but wasn’t feeling it.
Hopefully I’ll get some motivation going to New Orleans this coming weekend. At last my friend Beth is competing so that should be cool to see her and enjoy some beniegts (or however you spell that).
Gotta get outside here in a sec…
Bring me the head of Noboru Watanabe
So I’ve been reading lots of Haruki Murakami and just finished The Elephant Vanishes. He’s such the amazing author, and although I don’t think I’ve had one before, I’d say he’s my current fave.
If you want to check out his stuff, I’d recommend The Wind Up Bird Chronicle first.
Social Grace
OK, was reading my weekly dose of Social Grace in the SF Weekly and learned another tid bit of mannerisms which I have this strange interest in (must be the Southern upraising).
Anyhow, I learned that when a man meets a woman, it is up to the woman to put out her hand for a handshake. So if you meet a woman, a guy shouldn’t automatically offer his hand, but rather wait for the woman. If she doesn’t offer, then you’re done. Seems simple enough. So I’ll be dispensing more social graces that I’ve learned throughout my life in subsequent issues… stay tuned!
Agony of Defeat
Aaah, I can’t believe we lost the World Series. Man, I was feeling soo good about the Giants. We needed it more than Anaheim! Oh well, I allowed myself to get excited but it was fun to have the extremes in emotions.
One more win!
Wow, a pummeling of the Angels, 16-4! Went over to the park before the game, and got all pumped up for it. My theory that the more alcohol I drink while watching/listening to the game from away from the pad, seems to be working. Well I guess Saturday night will involve a lot of drinking, just for the Giants!
Vegas Burnout
Geez, I am so glad to be back in freezing ass SF. Vegas was OK, but I wasn’t in the zone at all, and didn’t feel like being there that much. Oh well, at least I made some good contacts. Unfortunately the Giants lost tonight, and I lost my Monday image for my 31 project (URL: http://www.orangephotography.com/servlet/GalleryServlet?action=VIEW&subgalleryid=21&galleryid=5)
Bring on the Angels
I love how sports teams have these names like the Angels and Giants. So the Giants are in the World Series and we have to defeat Angels to win it. Sounds difficult in team name regards, but luckily they aren’t actually angels. It would be cool if our team was actually made up of giants. Then I could stick up even more of the obey giant stickers and they would have added meaning.
Well, I gotta figure out why I can’t see my own blog yet on my computer…
