It seems like it’s been quite a while since my last In-n-Out excursion so of course the culprit was a rental car again, this time for a wedding shoot. I debated getting it “Zack style” but instead went with my own “genex style” and was definitely satisfied and ready to shoot on a hot day. I’ve started using Foodspotting a lot of late too so have documented my burgers moving forward there on my profile. physique photography books available!
So I have been asked a lot recently about whether people could pick up copies of the two physique photography books I’ve published and the answer is YES!
The Blurb Book (left) that was created a few years ago is still available and you can order your copy here. The AdoramaPix book (right) is available here – it’s got a lot fewer pix, but there are captions for each of the images.
Impossible Project Fade to Black film personal project
Well I finally got a Polaroid SX-70 and could use the awesome Fade to Black film I had bought in NYC when I visited the newly opened Impossible Project space.
I decided to enjoy the beautifully sunny, warm day (Thursday, Sept 2, 2010) by working on this personal project and using the film by walking around my neighborhood, the Mission, and finding random folks to take portraits of at some of my favorite spots. I also asked them to write down one word that they could relate to currently. Here’s what I got!

Fri Sep 3, 2010: In-N-Out Burger #43 – Double Double genex style (correctly made) – Redwood City, CA
So I walked into this busy In-n-Out Burger in Redwood City that I hadn’t seen before. It was more packed than I would have expected but then again it was a Friday at dinner time so I shouldn’t have been surprised. Anyhow there were a ton of associates working since it apparently had just opened up the previous Thursday. I thought it kind of looked funny to see so many of them behind there.
I ordered a “genex style” double double this time instead of my current crush – the Zack style… I had to wolf it down since I was working an rehearsal dinner so it totally hit the spot!

Ok, first off I realized I spelled “Zack style” wrong the last time so I’m correcting it here…
In the background there is the Orange Photography team enjoying our In-n-Out Burger lunch in the sun before we went off to Sea Bowl in Pacifica for a team offsite. Check out the Orange Photography blog soon to see how that went!
Sun Aug 29, 2010: In-N-Out Burger #41 – Double Double Zach style (correctly made) – San Francisco, CA
See that green bit at the bottom right of the burger bite? Yep that’s one of the chillies that In-n-Out let’s you add. I had considered trying a Double Double with chillies before but never actually added them until I made my order at the Fisherman’s Wharf In-n-Out Burger last night.
I ordered my own ‘genex style’ Double Double [genex style = animal style, no pickles, but with raw onions], and the associate whom I was ordering from, Zach MC, asked if I liked spicy. Of course I do so I answered in the affirmative and he said, he orders his burger just like mine, but with sliced chilies. Now I’m spelling chilies this way b/c that’s the way he spelled it out on the receipt. Regardless, I asked if there was a secret menu name for that style of burger and he said no, so we agree to call it “Zach” style so hence this is the first mention of it.
Ask for it by name and since the associate you order from won’t understand, just explain what it contains. If you use Foodspotting, here’s a link to it for the Fisherman’s Wharf In-n-Out Burger. Riding home…
It was so freaky hot this week and so after work Myleen, Andria and I rode down to The Ramp for drinks outside and then rode home after and snapped off some iPhone pix while cruising back (yeah, yeah, drink and bike, I know). Of course this being SF, we saw an art car being towed, most likely towards the playa for Burning Man…
Sun Aug 8, 2010: In-N-Out Burger #39 – Double Double genex style (correctly made) – Petaluma, CA
Damn dynamic range on the iPhone camera – wanted to get the signature crossed palm trees in the background, but whatever… This was my 39th In-n-Out Burger for my 39th year of life. Although this project may take a few years off my life, it’s about quality, not quantity right? 🙂
So I was reading the USA Today College Football preview during this lunch and of course they have freaking Alabama at #1 and Auburn at #23. Guess we’ll see how it all pans out. College football season and World Cup are my two favorite sporting events and I can’t believe it’s already time for football season!
Fri Aug 6, 2010: In-N-Out Burger #38 – Double Double genex style (incorrectly made)– Daly City, CA
Oh Daly City In-n-Out Burger, this was one of the more interesting inputs on my ‘genex style’ Double Double. It was “Animal P Raw O instead” which I think got me just Animal style, without pickles, but ONLY raw onions. I actually did like the taste of it and the Godzilla-sized lettuce was a nice touch. Made me feel like I was getting a full serving of veggies!
Sat July 31, 2010: In-N-Out Burger #37 – Double Double genex style (correctly made)– Las Vegas, NV
Well, due to a sync error on my iPhone I lost the actual photos of the receipt and burger but had posted this one shot to twitter before so this will be the ‘evidence’ of my 37th In-n-Out burger which was in Las Vegas. Since it was just after prejudging at the 2010 NPC USAs, Gail Auerbach, a female bodybuilder that I know also made it over to this In-n-Out which was just a couple blocks away from the venue where the competition was happening. This trip was also Steve Schibelli’s first trip to an In-n-Out and so it was Steve, myself, James Cook and Annie Rivieccio chomping on burgers. Gail just came in and ordered and hung out with us while she ordered before she was on her way!
